Real Food

A friend of mine loaned me a book entitled, Real Food: What to Eat and Why. This has quickly become my new favorite book and I am only halfway through it! I have learned so much about cattle and milk and yogurt and butter, gardening and how so many of our grocery store options are processed (even things labeled "organic." It is an awesome book and we have already begun to adopt it's principles into our own kitchen. It sort of takes all the raw foodist, vegetarian/vegan, green smoothie and nutritarian stuff we like into one idea that still allows for delicious things like beef and butter and salt. It is so wonderful and I hope you all will read it, too! You would love it!

Find it on Amazon here.

Love you all!

  1. Sam reserved it at the library. Looks like I'll like it too.

  2. Just finished the book. So when are you all going to buy a cow and raise it? If you all move down here we can buy some land and we'll go in 50-50 with ya.

We found a farm a few miles away that sells raw milk. Yeah for us. Its good stuff! I'm drinking a banana-peach-cream smoothie right now. Soooo good. Wow - it is gone fast, though. I had a full glass when I started this post and now it's all gone! :-( I'll just make more!

  3. I'm jealous. The best we can do is buy a "cow share" and get the milk from our "share." That is $35/mo. for approx. a gallon a week.

  4. Whats the recipe on that banana peach cream smoothie? I happen to have bananas and peaches right now.

  5. Its easy to make. The hardest part is having all three ingredients simultaneously. First add peaches, then add bananas. Lastly, add cream!

BTW, we think the milk might be causing some congestion for Maddie. :-(

  6. You should see if you can find goat milk to try... not from the store though.
